LTC highly recommends this book. It is not, as ‘Journey’ implies, a linear memoir. Griffiths is far too skilled and intellectually expansive a writer to give us anything so conventional when trying to express to us the pure indomitable quality of the ‘Wild’. This book is genre marked by Penguin as ‘Travel’ and ‘Nature’. True but this book was written by someone who has vast physical, often arduous, experience of exploring our planet AND an enormous scholarly understanding of human knowledge. Griffiths uses history, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, psychology, geopolitics, economics, literature, poetry, feminism and her own very unique mind to help us connect with the vast, beautiful wisdom of this wild planet that cares for us and what it is trying to tell us about the nature of our existence.
