Image Comics was founded in 1992 by a group of professional artists who wanted to publish purely creator-owned comics and be paid fairly for their work. The company has gone through some major changes since then but its basic aims remain intact. Image currently has five major houses: Todd McFarlane Productions, Top Cow Productions, Shadowline Comics, Skybound Entertainment and Image Central.
